Copper Falls and Morgan Falls
Copper Falls State Park is one of Wisconsin’s most scenic parks. Located in Mellen, WI just south of Ashland, Copper Falls is home to ancient lava flows, deep gorges and spectacular waterfalls. Adding to its charm are the log buildings constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. The park offers camping, hiking, bicycling, picnicking, fishing and swimming opportunities in Loon Lake. The 1.7-mile Doughboy’s Nature Trail, along the Bad River, is one of the best hikes in Wisconsin.
Morgan Falls, located in St. Peter’s Dome Recreation Area is an easy 1.2 mile roundtrip hike from the parking lot. Nearly 70 feet high, Morgan Falls is a must-visit on your trip to Ashland. Big Manitou Falls
Big Manitou Falls is a sight to see as the highest waterfalls in the state of Wisconsin. Located in Pattison Park in Superior, WI, Big Manitou Falls and Little Manitou Falls are situated in a great recreational area with pavilions, a campground and nine miles of hiking trails.
If you’re up for more adventure, take a drive further south on Highway 53 to explore the captivating Amnicon Falls. Take the casual walking trail along the falls to find yourself under a vintage covered bridge – perfect for a family picture!
